All breaking strain ratings published by Kwik Rig are based on linear tensile strength testing, where the fishing line or braid is tested in a straight, knot-free configuration under controlled conditions.

The introduction of any knot will reduce the line’s breaking strength. While the amount of reduction varies depending on the knot used, line type, tying technique, and fishing conditions, a reduction of approximately 40% should be expected.

Kwik Rig pre-tied paternoster rigs are supplied with professionally tied knots for convenience; however, the effective breaking strength of the finished rig will be lower than the stated linear line rating.

Customers are responsible for selecting a product with an appropriate breaking strain for their intended fishing application. Kwik Rig makes no warranty that the line will retain its full rated linear strength once knots have been introduced or when used outside normal operating conditions.
